Find Baldwin County Warrants

Baldwin County does not publish a single public active-warrant list, but warrant information appears in multiple official systems: the Sheriff's Citizen Connect inmate database, the Probate DuProcess court portal, direct contact with the Corrections Docket Room, and the Alacourt public case-search tool. Each source shows different details, and using them together is the practical way to check on a Baldwin County warrant for yourself or someone you know.

Active Warrants in Baldwin County

Baldwin County does not operate a standalone public warrant database. This is common in Alabama. Warrants are generated by courts, not the sheriff, so the issuing court controls the record. A District Court judge signs a bench warrant, a Circuit Court judge signs a capias, and a municipal judge signs a city warrant. None of those courts push a live public warrant list to a searchable website. What the sheriff can do is show you who is currently booked, and those booking charges often tell you whether a warrant was the reason someone was picked up.

The best workaround is the Sheriff's Citizen Connect inmate search. It lets you search by name or charge keyword across current confinements. Charges like "Failure to Appear Felony" or "Failure to Appear Misdemeanor" appear directly in booking profiles and confirm that a warrant was active at the time of arrest. The Probate Court's DuProcess iQuery portal is the other option for probate-related matters; its case detail pane has a dedicated "Warrant/s" section when one is attached to a probate case. For court-issued criminal warrants, contact the Baldwin County Circuit Clerk at (251) 937-0280 or use Alacourt ACCESS to search by name for case records that may reflect an active capias.

The sheriff's arrest-search page posts a clear disclaimer: the information is collected for public convenience, and the Corrections Center cannot certify its accuracy. Use it as a starting point, not a final answer.

The screenshot below shows the Sheriff's official arrest-search landing page, which links directly to current inmates and the 24-hour booking log.

Types of Baldwin County Warrants

Several distinct warrant types circulate through Baldwin County courts. They come from different courts for different reasons, and that matters when you are trying to figure out which office to call. Knowing the type helps you ask the right question of the right clerk.

  • Arrest warrant - Signed by a judge on a sworn complaint; authorizes law enforcement to take a named person into custody on a criminal charge.
  • Bench warrant / capias - Issued by a judge when someone misses a court date, violates probation, ignores a court order, or fails to pay fines and costs; very common in Baldwin District and Circuit Court.
  • Search warrant - Authorizes officers to search a location or seize items; usually sealed until it is executed and returned to court, so it typically is not publicly visible until after the search.
  • Failure-to-appear warrant (traffic) - Triggered specifically by missing a Baldwin District Court traffic date; comes with driver's-license suspension by ALEA, an increased fine, and possible bond forfeiture under the traffic court's official warning.
  • Fugitive warrant / hold - Placed by another county, another state, the U.S. Marshals, or ICE; the person is held in Baldwin County on behalf of the requesting jurisdiction.
  • Civil warrant / writ - Used to enforce civil judgments, child-support orders, contempt findings, garnishments, or execution levies; separate from criminal process but still court-ordered.

Bench warrants and capias orders make up a large share of Baldwin County's active court business. The circuit court's online docket calendar and the District Court's traffic page both reference the failure-to-appear pathway as a routine outcome of unpaid or ignored cases. If you know the warrant is traffic-related, the Baldwin County traffic court page explains the steps to resolve the matter before it escalates.

Note that Citizen Connect does not show bond amounts in the public booking profile. Bond information is available by calling the Corrections Docket Room. The Docket Room is accessible through the Sheriff's non-emergency number at (251) 937-0202 and can confirm bond amounts and charges only.

What a Baldwin County Warrant Record Shows

Because Baldwin County warrant information is spread across several systems rather than one unified database, what you see depends on the source you use. The table below covers the fields you are likely to find when warrant information surfaces in a Citizen Connect booking profile, a Probate DuProcess detail pane, or a court record through Alacourt.

Field Source / Notes
Name Full name appears in both the Sheriff booking profile header and in court records. Citizen Connect shows name with mugshot when available.
Case number Court or probate case number. Traffic citations carry a UTC case number. Alacourt uses the official court case number for search and retrieval.
Charge / reason Booking charge is listed in Citizen Connect. Common warrant-related charges include "Failure to Appear Felony" and "Failure to Appear Misdemeanor." Capias, bench warrant, or specific criminal code may appear in Alacourt case-action summaries.
Issuing court Warrants come from District Court, Circuit Court, Probate Court, a Baldwin County municipal court, or a federal court. The court is listed in the underlying case record but may not appear in the booking profile itself.
Bond amount Not shown in the public Citizen Connect profile. Call the Corrections Docket Room at (251) 937-0202 for bond amounts on current bookings. Probate DuProcess includes a Bond/s section for probate cases.
Arresting agency Citizen Connect shows the arresting agency name and ORI code. Baldwin Co SO, Daphne PD, Fairhope PD, Gulf Shores PD, Orange Beach PD, U.S. Marshals, and ICE are among those in the dropdown.
Arrest date / time Citizen Connect booking profile shows arrest date and time in MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM format.
Warrant/s panel Found in Probate DuProcess case detail panes when a warrant is attached to a probate-court case. This field does not appear in the Sheriff booking profile.

Keep in mind that the Sheriff's booking record reflects what was known at the time of intake. Court information changes as cases move forward. A person may be released, bonded out, or have charges modified after the initial booking. Always confirm with the clerk or court of record if you need current status for legal purposes.

Failure to Appear and Traffic Warrants in Baldwin County

Traffic warrants deserve their own section because they are among the most common warrants in Baldwin County and the consequences move fast. The Baldwin County District Court traffic page says explicitly: failure to pay or otherwise dispose of a case before the court date, and failure to appear in court, can lead to an arrest warrant, a driver's-license suspension by ALEA, an increased fine, and bond forfeiture. All four of those can happen from a single missed traffic court date.

The license suspension is handled by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), not by the court directly. So clearing the warrant in court does not automatically reinstate the license. You need to resolve the court matter first, then contact ALEA separately. The traffic page points to Alapay as an official payment option and notes the Alabama Traffic Service Center as a contact route for traffic-case management. If you are not sure whether your license is suspended because of a Baldwin County traffic matter, that is a good place to start.

The screenshot below shows the official Baldwin County traffic court page, which outlines the failure-to-appear consequences including arrest warrants and license suspension.

If a traffic warrant is already active, do not ignore it. The longer it sits, the more complications build up: suspension fees, reinstatement fees, possible arrest during a routine traffic stop, and higher bond amounts. Contact the Circuit Clerk or an attorney and get it resolved. The Fairhope satellite courthouse at (251) 928-3002 and the Foley satellite at (251) 943-5061 can also handle traffic-related inquiries if Bay Minette is not convenient.

What to Do If You Have an Outstanding Baldwin County Warrant

Finding out you have an active warrant in Baldwin County is stressful, but acting quickly and carefully is better than waiting. The steps below apply to most warrant types. Read through all of them before doing anything, because the order matters.

  1. Use official sources only to confirm. Do not rely on third-party websites or rumors. Check Citizen Connect by name, run an Alacourt name search, or call the Circuit Clerk at (251) 937-0280. You need to know for certain whether a warrant exists and which court issued it before you take any other step.
  2. Identify the court that issued it. A District Court bench warrant, a Circuit Court capias, a municipal court warrant, and a federal warrant each require a different resolution process. The issuing court is the one that can recall or clear the warrant. Calling the wrong office will waste time.
  3. For traffic-related warrants, contact the Baldwin County traffic court or Alapay first. If the warrant stems from a missed traffic court date or an unpaid fine, the traffic service center may be able to set a new court date. Use Alapay or call the clerk before a bench warrant compounds into a license-suspension situation.
  4. If a current booking exists, call the Docket Room. If someone is already in custody at the Baldwin County Sheriff's Corrections Center (200 Hand Avenue, Bay Minette), call (251) 937-0202 to get the bond amount and charges. The Docket Room provides those two pieces of information. Bond can often be posted the same day.
  5. Consult a criminal-defense attorney. Before you show up at a courthouse or jail to turn yourself in, talk to a lawyer. An attorney can often contact the court in advance, arrange a specific surrender time, negotiate bond conditions, and make sure you are released quickly rather than held over a weekend. This step is especially important for felony warrants, warrants involving probation violations, domestic violence no-contact orders, or any out-of-state extradition hold.
  6. For federal or out-of-state warrants, get an attorney first. Federal warrants through the U.S. Marshals Service Southern District of Alabama and out-of-state fugitive holds are handled differently from state court warrants. The federal public defender or a private attorney familiar with federal procedure should be your first call, not the sheriff's office or the clerk.
  7. Surrender through proper channels. If you decide to turn yourself in, do it at the right location with legal representation arranged. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Corrections Center at 200 Hand Avenue, Bay Minette, handles intake for county warrants. Municipal warrants may require surrendering to the city police department that issued them.
  8. Confirm the warrant is cleared after resolution. Once you have resolved the underlying matter, ask the court clerk to confirm the warrant or capias has been recalled in the system. Clearance timing can take days. A computer lag means the warrant may still show as active in Citizen Connect or Alacourt for a short period. Get written confirmation from the clerk if possible.

Important: Consult a licensed attorney before voluntarily surrendering on any warrant, especially for felony charges, probation violations, domestic violence matters, or out-of-state holds, so you can arrange bond in advance and avoid unnecessary detention.

Federal and Out-of-State Warrants in Baldwin County

Baldwin County falls within the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, headquartered at 155 Saint Joseph Street, Mobile, AL 36602, phone (251) 690-2371. Federal warrants are issued by federal judges, served by the U.S. Marshals Service Southern District of Alabama, and do not appear in any state court or sheriff database. If you need to look up a federal case, use PACER for the Southern District, which requires a free account registration.

Out-of-state warrants show up in Baldwin County when another state requests a hold. Those people appear in Citizen Connect with a "Fugitive Warrant" or "Hold" charge and the originating agency listed as the arresting party. Resolving an out-of-state hold involves the originating state's courts, not the Baldwin County courts, and extradition procedures apply. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Alabama handles federal criminal prosecution for Baldwin County cases at the federal level.

The ALEA Community Information Center at app.alea.gov lists state fugitives and certain active public-safety alerts. This is a statewide tool, not Baldwin-specific, but it covers Alabama fugitives and is free to search.

Restricted Baldwin County Warrant Records

Not every warrant in Baldwin County is public. Several categories are sealed, confidential, or otherwise off-limits for routine public inspection, and knowing which ones they are can save you time and frustration if your search comes up empty.

Search warrants are typically sealed from the time a judge signs them until they are executed and the return is filed with the court. Even after execution, a court can keep a search-warrant affidavit sealed if disclosure would harm an ongoing investigation or reveal a confidential informant. You may find the return eventually in a criminal case file through Alacourt, but not necessarily right away.

Juvenile warrants are confidential under Ala. Code Section 12-15-133. Juvenile records in Alabama are not public, and warrants involving minors follow the same confidentiality rule. Any booking of a minor at the Baldwin County Regional Juvenile Detention Center (a separate 30-bed facility) is not part of the Citizen Connect public search. If you are researching a juvenile matter, contact the court or an attorney; public channels will not have that information.

Sealed court records, including sealed indictments and sealed warrant applications, are not visible through Alacourt or the clerk's public counter until the court orders them unsealed. Expunged records are also removed from public access under Ala. Code Title 15, Chapter 27. If a prior warrant was part of a case that was later expunged, it should no longer appear in public searches.

Note: If a warrant does not appear in any public system, that does not always mean it has been cleared; it may be sealed, pending, or in a non-public court system such as a municipal court or federal court.
