Baldwin County Jail Roster Overview

The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, currently led by Sheriff Anthony E. Lowery (appointed by Governor Kay Ivey on September 1, 2024), operates the Baldwin County Sheriff's Corrections Center at 200 Hand Avenue in Bay Minette. The public-facing inmate roster is hosted through the Citizen Connect platform by Southern Software and is accessible at no charge to anyone with internet access. The interface updates continuously and displays booking data shortly after the intake process is complete. The Sheriff's arrest-search page links directly to the live roster and includes a disclaimer that the Corrections Center collects and maintains this data for visitor convenience but cannot certify its accuracy or authenticity, and is not liable for any decisions or actions taken in reliance on the information shown.

The roster shows people currently confined at the Corrections Center and recent admits or releases within a chosen date range. It does not show every person who has had contact with Baldwin County law enforcement. People who have been transferred to the Alabama Department of Corrections, placed in federal Bureau of Prisons custody, or released from local custody will not appear under Current Confinements. Juvenile records are handled separately and are not part of the public roster. If you need records for a person held by a state or federal agency, you will need to use a different database. See the section below on when to search ADOC, BOP, or VINELink instead.

The Corrections Center has served Baldwin County for over 200 years and is one of two county jails in Alabama that holds active national accreditation. A majority of people held at any given time are pretrial detainees who are waiting for court action rather than serving a sentence.

How to Use the Baldwin County Inmate Roster

The Citizen Connect roster has six search tabs across the top of the page. You do not need an account or login. Start at the Baldwin County inmate roster page and follow these steps.

  1. Open the roster. Go to the Citizen Connect inmate-search page for the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. The page loads with the Current Confinements tab active by default. You will see all people currently in custody listed alphabetically.
  2. Choose a search method. Click the tab that fits what you know. Use the Name tab if you have a first or last name. Use the Charges tab if you want to filter by offense type. Use the Arresting Agency tab to narrow results by which department made the arrest. Use Admits by Date Range or Releases by Date Range if you need recent booking or release data rather than current confinements.
  3. Enter your search terms. Type a name, charge keyword, date range, or choose an agency from the dropdown. For date searches, enter dates in MM/DD/YYYY format. You can use the quick-select buttons for Last 24 Hours or Last 7 Days instead of entering a custom range. Click the appropriate search button (Search by Name, Search by Charge, Search by Agency, Search Admits, or Search Releases).
  4. Review the results list. The roster returns a table of matching records. Each row shows the inmate's name and basic booking information. If you get no results, try a partial last name or broaden the date range. Spelling variations and name changes can affect search results.
  5. Click a name to see the full profile. Clicking an individual row opens the booking detail page, which shows the mugshot, demographics, date of birth, booking date, arresting agency, arrest date and time, and a numbered list of charges. See the profile field inventory table in the next section for details on every field shown.
  6. Call for bond and charges details. The online profile does not always display bond amounts. The Docket Room at the Corrections Center can provide bond amounts and charges only; call (251) 937-0202. For full case status, the inmate's attorney will have the most current court information.

Baldwin County Jail Facilities

Baldwin County has one adult corrections facility operated by the Sheriff's Office. A separate juvenile detention center is in the Bay Minette area and serves youth under the jurisdiction of the juvenile court. The two facilities do not share rosters or public databases. The main Corrections Command page covers the adult facility in detail.

Arresting Agencies in the Baldwin County Roster

The Baldwin County jail holds people arrested by many different agencies, not just the Sheriff's Office. When you search by arresting agency in the Citizen Connect roster, the dropdown shows every agency that has booked someone into the facility. This reflects the fact that the Corrections Center houses people from multiple jurisdictions, including state and federal holds.

Local agencies with booking authority in the Baldwin County roster include: Baldwin County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), Bay Minette Police Department, Daphne Police Department, Elberta Police Department, Fairhope Police Department, Foley Police Department, Gulf Shores Police Department, Loxley Police Department, Orange Beach Police Department, Robertsdale Police Department, Silverhill Police Department, Spanish Fort Police Department, and Summerdale Police Department. Several agencies from outside Baldwin County also appear, such as Escambia County SO (Alabama), Escambia County SO (Florida), Mobile County SO, and Monroe County SO, typically for transfer or holding purposes.

State and federal agencies with ORI codes in the dropdown include: Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI), Alabama Department of Corrections, Alabama Department of Public Safety, Alabama State Troopers, Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles, FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and U.S. Marshals Service. A person arrested by a federal agency and held at the county facility will appear in the Baldwin County roster but may be transferred to federal custody at any time.

Note: Federal holds by ICE or the U.S. Marshals can change quickly; call the Docket Room at (251) 937-0202 to confirm current status before visiting.

Booking and Intake at the Baldwin County Corrections Center

After an arrest, the arresting officer transports the person to the Corrections Center at 200 Hand Avenue. The Intake Division handles the booking process: identity verification, property collection, medical screening, charge entry, and classification. Docket staff screen all new arrivals with a medical questionnaire on arrival. If a pre-booking population prevents immediate medical assessment, the evaluation happens at booking. The Intake Division also manages releases, the Docket Room, inmate classification, inmate transportation, and liaison with courts, judges, and the District Attorney's Office.

The official Corrections Command page says the center processes an average of over 15,000 intakes per year. That works out to roughly 40 to 45 new bookings each day on average. The ADP runs at approximately 550, with some periods exceeding that. The 654-bed facility can handle surges, and the recently completed $70M expansion that opened in early 2026 added capacity to support the county's continued growth.

Classification happens after intake. The commander of Corrections holds the rank of Major and is the senior officer on site. Eight senior officers (two captains, six lieutenants), one contract medical director, and one contract kitchen manager support the commander. The Operations Division runs daily safe and secure operations. Support Services runs food, postal, commissary, visitation, records, and transportation.

Once booked, the inmate's name appears in the Citizen Connect roster. The Docket Room can give family members bond amounts and charges only. For everything else, including court dates and attorney contact, family is directed to speak with the attorney of record. The Corrections Center updates court-case information for inmates when it is available.

The screenshot below is from the official Corrections Command page on the Sheriff's website, which describes the facility's structure, accreditation, intake process, and programs.

The Corrections Command page describes the command structure, ADP, annual intake figures, and programs at the Baldwin County Corrections Center.

The facility is one of two county jails in Alabama with active accreditation. That status requires regular compliance reviews of policies, procedures, staffing, and physical conditions. Maintaining accreditation is separate from state licensing and reflects a higher operational standard.

A few rules apply to all visits. You may sign in up to 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. If you have not logged on within 10 minutes of the scheduled start, the visit will be canceled and no refund will be issued. You need a valid state-issued driver's license or ID to check in. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the visit.

Attorneys have two options: video visitation or on-site visitation. Attorney video visits are set not to record when scheduled by a licensed attorney. Attorneys assigned as public defenders can access privileged video visits at no cost after verification and approval. On-site attorney visits run Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except during blackout periods. On-site visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by calling (251) 580-2581. All visitors including paralegals and translators must be registered at the time of scheduling. Attorneys and approved visitors check in through the Docket with valid photo ID and a current Bar Card or agency credential.

Mail, Money, and Commissary at Baldwin County

The Baldwin County Corrections Center uses two separate mailing addresses: one for standard personal mail and one for legal mail. Getting this right matters because mail sent to the wrong address may be rejected or delayed. Personal mail goes to a Kentucky PO Box operated by a mail-scanning service. Legal mail addressed to an attorney or from a court goes directly to the facility in Bay Minette.

  • Standard non-legal mail: Inmate Name - Inmate ID, Baldwin County Jail, AL, PO Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076
  • Legal mail (from attorney, court, or official legal source): Inmate Name - Inmate ID, Baldwin County Jail, 200 Hand Avenue, Bay Minette, AL 36507

All personal non-legal mail must be a postcard no larger than 4 x 6 inches, written in blue or black ink only. The return address must include the sender's first and last name plus a complete mailing address, also in blue or black ink. No packages are allowed. Books, magazines, and newspapers are not accepted by mail; inmates access reading material through tablets and commissary. Up to 10 photographs printed on photo paper may be included as enclosures. Personal mail is delivered digitally; the inmate may request a hard copy upon release.

Incoming mail must be no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches and no thicker than light card stock, able to feed through a scanner. Many items are prohibited: stamps, blank envelopes, stationery, cash, checks, address labels, stickers, homemade cards, non-white envelopes or paper, colored ink or crayon drawings, raised decorations, paint, white-out, glue, internet printouts, provocative material, certified mail requiring signature, and postage-due mail.

For money deposits, two accounts are available. The Inmate Trust Account holds money used for commissary purchases, emails, messages, and general spending. You can deposit at the cash/debit/credit kiosk in the Public Docket Lobby or online through team3.inmatecanteen.com. For help, contact Kimble's FBD/Turnkey at 706-298-4974. The Tablet Account is separate and funds purchases of e-books, music, and movies. Deposit at the same Docket Lobby kiosk or online at inmatesales.com. For tablet account help, call InmateSales at 702-829-3001. Funds cannot be transferred between the Inmate Trust Account and the Tablet Account; they are independent systems.

Commissary allows inmates to buy approved food items and personal care products using trust-account funds. The commissary list and ordering process are managed through the same vendor (team3.inmatecanteen.com). Inmates with medical or religious dietary needs are accommodated; food service prepares meals following dietitian recommendations and religious/medical requirements. The kitchen serves an average of 1,740 meals per day.

Programs and Medical Services Inside the Facility

The Baldwin County Corrections Center provides a full-service Medical Service Unit staffed through a locally contracted doctor and dentist. Medical and dental sick calls are held daily, and inmates are seen based on need after examination. Medical care is provided without regard to an inmate's ability to pay. If an inmate has funds in the trust account, an appropriate co-pay may be charged. This structure means that lack of money does not prevent an inmate from receiving care, which is a legal requirement for facilities housing pretrial detainees who have not been convicted of any offense.

Programs available inside the facility include weekly non-denominational religious services led by volunteers, Alcoholics Anonymous sessions, and other inmate-requested programs where resources allow. The official Corrections Command page does not list a formal GED or job-readiness program among current offerings, so those should not be cited without additional verification. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office also operates a Community Corrections and Pre-Trial program for qualified lower-level defendants who have not made bond. That program is a supervision alternative to detention, not a jail program; see the Community Corrections page for eligibility details.

The $70M expansion completed in early 2026 updated the physical facility. The original building opened in 1964 and went through expansions in 1985, 1992, and 1996. Medical observation rooms are included in the total 654-bed count. The intake area has a dedicated medical post to assess new arrivals as part of the booking process.

When to Search ADOC, BOP, or VINELink Instead

The Baldwin County Citizen Connect roster only covers people in county custody at the Corrections Center. If a person is not appearing in that search, they may be held in a different system. Each database covers a distinct custody category, and checking the wrong one will return no results even if the person is in custody somewhere else.

  • Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC): Use the ADOC inmate search if the person was sentenced to state prison (more than one year). ADOC only shows currently incarcerated state prisoners; historical data is not available online, and Youthful Offender Act inmates are not included.
  • Bureau of Prisons (BOP): Use the BOP inmate locator if the person is in federal custody. Federal inmates can be located by name or register number. BOP covers only federal prisoners, not state or county jail inmates.
  • VINELink: Use VINELink to register for release notifications or to check custody status at participating agencies. VINELink is a notification layer, not a complete booking database.
  • Released inmates: If you believe the person may have been released recently, use the Citizen Connect Releases tab or see Baldwin County released inmates for more detail on how to confirm a release.
  • Inmate population data: For statistical information about how many people are held in Baldwin County at any time, see Baldwin County inmate population.

A person not found in any of these databases may have been released, transferred to a facility not yet updated, or held under a name variation. The Docket Room at (251) 937-0202 can confirm current status if you have the person's name and date of birth. If active warrants are part of the picture, Baldwin County warrant records may help explain why someone was booked or re-arrested.
